I love food.  I love making it, eating it, writing about it, and especially photographing it.  Do any of you have experience doing this in a restaurant setting, food-blog-style?  Are there any unwritten rules about taking photos of beautiful plates of food as they arrive at your table?  Not that it always stops me, but I have gotten some strange looks from servers and other patrons and wonder if it is somehow not okay to bring out my camera before eating.

The problem comes in publishing them, and it is more likely the setting, rather than the food. Certain unique locations (and even some unique food) require property releases before they can be used commercially. Many businesses have a policy against allowing people to do photography in their business without prior permission for that reason. So that may be why they are getting a tad peeved. They do have the right to ask you to stop, but if they don't, and you are using the photos non commercially, you are perfectly within your rights. In case you are wondering, I shoot stock photography, and that is how I know.
Thanks!
